Franklin County Emergency Management is dedicated to providing residents information and guidance to help protect their families and property, and make each individual as resilient as possible during times of disaster. This is accomplished through comprehensive disaster planning, preparedness education, public outreach, training/exercises and resource coordination. In addition to natural hazards such as wildfires, floods, wind and snow storms, FCEM plans and prepares for emergencies at the Hanford site and the Columbia Generating Station and other hazardous material type incidents.

LEVEL 1 EVACUATION ORDER – A level 1 evacuation means, BE READY, there is an emergency/danger near you, and this is a warning for your situational awareness. Residents with special needs, or those with pets or livestock should take note and start to MAKE PREPARATIONS TO LEAVE for family members, pets and livestock. Stay tuned to local news and radio for additional information and begin preparations to leave if the situation worsens

LEVEL 2 EVACUATION ORDER – A level 2 evacuation means, GET SET, there is a significant risk in your area and residents should BE READY TO LEAVE the area at a moment’s notice when given the order. Stay tuned to local news and radio for additional information. Evacuate if you feel unsafe or if you need extra time (large animals, small children). Do not wait to be advised to leave if there is a possible threat to your home or evacuation route.

LEVEL 3 EVACUATION ORDER – A level 3 evacuation order means, GO NOW!, danger is currently affecting your area or is imminent and you should LEAVE IMMEDIATELY for your safety. Stay tuned to local news and radio for additional information
- If you get trapped:
- Remain inside your home until the fire passes.
- Shelter away from outside walls.
- Bring garden hoses inside the house so embers and flames do not destroy them.
- Patrol inside your home and look in your attic for spot fires and if found, extinguish them.
- Fill sinks and tubs for an emergency water supply.
- Place wet towels under doors to keep smoke and embers out.
- After the fire has passed check your home (including under decks and in eaves) and roof.
- Extinguish any small or smoldering fires and embers. Check inside the attic for hidden embers.
